breastfeeding and lactation supportAt Family First Physicians, we recognize the importance of breastfeeding to the health of our patients as well as to our population as a whole. We support the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommendations to breastfeed exclusively for the first six months of life, with continuation of breastfeeding for at least the first year. We believe in each baby's right to receive breastmilk, and each mother's right to provide it. It is our mission to help you give your baby the best start in life by breastfeeding, and we will strive to help you meet your breastfeeding goals.

Our support includes:

  • Prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding education
  • Routine breastfeeding support
  • Management of breastfeeding problems, such as Maternal:
    • Sore nipples
    • Mastitis
    • Milk supply
    • Maternal illness or medications
  • Infant:
    • Slow weight gain
    • Jaundice
    • Colic
    • Reflux
    • Tongue-tie
    • Thrush
  • Tandem nursing
  • Extended breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding for working mothers
