Green Smoothies

After my coffee, my first meal of the day is an apple-tizer and a green smoothie! I change the ingredients depending on what I have on hand, but always include the seeds and protein powder, and it’s almost always green! These will make 1 large smoothie or 4 minis (for the staff in the office). Here are my 2 favorite combos, but the possibilities are endless.

Spicy Lime Immune Booster Smoothie 1/2 c coconut water (or plain water)

Juice of 2-3 limes 1/2 c frozen mango 1 tangerine, peeled fresh cilantro (leaves and stems) - approx 1/2 of a small bunch 1/4 - 1/2 of a fresh jalapeño (optional) Large handful of kale 1-2 pitted dates (try 1 and if you want it a little sweeter add another) A slice of raw peeled ginger root, more if you love ginger 1 T turmeric powder 1 scoop protein powder 1 T chia seeds 1 T black seeds (aka black cumin seeds), optional 1 T flax seeds 1-2 T hemp hearts

ice, if desired

Blend all until smooth, add additional water if too thick to blend. Enjoy with an apple-tizer The sweetness of the apple balances the tart spiciness of the smoothie!

Green Piña Colada Smoothie 1/2 c unsweetened coconut milk or almond-coconut milk 1 c frozen or fresh pineapple (if you have fresh pineapple, add a splash of the juice) 2 tangerines or 1 orange, peeled 1/2 frozen or fresh banana (I freeze peeled overripe bananas in half banana pieces) Large handful of kale 1/4 c unsweetened coconut flakes 1 T turmeric powder (or slice of fresh root) 1 scoop protein powder 1 T chia seeds 1 T black seeds (aka black cumin seeds), optional 1 T flax seeds 1-2 T hemp hearts

ice, if desired

Blend all until smooth, add additional milk if too thick to blend. Garnish with a pineapple slice and enjoy with an apple-tizer!
